Pop Noir on NBC “MusicRaw”

Friday, March 12th, 2010

We had a ton of fun yesterday doing a little interview and live performance on “NewsRaw”, hosted by Mekahlo Medina on NBC here in LA. We performed an exclusive acoustic version of “White Jazz”, which you will probably never see anywhere again. I don’t mean it’s bad! I just mean this video is special! Apparently we’re the first people to bring in a little keyboard for an on-air performance. You can’t see it in the video, but Luke’s playing a $5 Casio SK-1.
The show’s shot at a little desk in the back corner of the KNBC newsroom, right next to the big green screen where they do the weather forecast, so of course we were messing about with that before we went on camera! Without a doubt the most exciting “green room” we’ve ever been in. We’ll also have a little behind the scenes video for you in a bit. The proper weather man walked past and said “It’s not as easy as it looks, is it?”
We also played a blinding set at Detroit Bar last night. If we’d have traveled from the studio to the venue by helicopter, it would have almost fulfilled our pop star fantasies, but instead we were stuck in traffic for hours in that nightmare stretch between Burbank and anywhere!
Here’s Luke giggling and gesturing at nothing in particular like the inexperienced meteorologist he is:

And here’s a shot of the NBC building. Inside it was a maze of hallways and tunnels!
